Deborah Goldman

Deborah Goldman serves on the Buffalo Jewish Federation Board of Governors and is Co-Chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC). She has served as Board Chair of Planned Parenthood of Western and Central New York, Friends of the Night People, Housing Opportunities Made Equal, and the Bureau of Jewish Education. She has also served as Central Park Homeowners Association Treasurer and on the boards of Temple Beth Zion and the Museum of DisAbility History. She has volunteered, with a series of dogs, for Therapy Dog International at Oshei Children’s Hospital.

Deborah is a consultant, certified by both New York City and New York State as a Women-Owned Business Enterprise. Her work includes supporting counties in using data for planning and grant writing in behavioral health and security. In addition, she reviews grants for the Federal government and develops supportive housing for individuals with disabilities. Prior to this, Deborah served as Acting Mental Health Commissioner for Erie County.

Deborah has been recognized for her efforts with awards from the Buffalo Jewish Federation, the National Federation of Just Communities, the Network of Religious Communities, the Chinese Club of Western New York, the Holocaust Resource Center of Buffalo, Temple Beth Zion, New York Care Coordination Program, Friends of Night People Board Recognition, United Way, Cazenovia Recovery Services, Crisis Services, and the Erie County Homeless Commission.

Deborah’s philosophy of life is best explained by Lo Ta’amod Al Dam Rey’echa – Do Not Stand Idly By. She is grateful for “all the terrific people” she has met through both her volunteer and professional activities.
