POLICY AND ADVOCACY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

JCPA Condemns Texas\u2019 New Anti-Abortion Law<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Senate Bill (S.B) 8 would ban abortion after six weeks into a pregnancy\u2014before most people are aware they are pregnant.\u00a0This law, which took effect this week after the Supreme Court denied litigants\u2019 emergency request to block it, places the onus of enforcement on private citizens, who can now sue abortion providers, as well as anyone who \u201caids or abets\u201d an abortion after six weeks.\u00a0Click here to read the full statement.<\/a><\/p>\n\n

ACTION ALERT:<\/strong>\u00a0Texas is just the latest example, as states around the nation adopt increasingly restrictive anti-abortion laws.\u00a0It is critical that Congress pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (S. 1975\/H.R. 3755), which\u00a0would enable health care providers to deliver abortion services without medically unnecessary limitations that do not significantly advance patient health or the safety of abortion, or make abortion more difficult to access.\u00a0Take action now!<\/p>\n\n

JCPA Applauds Passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 JCPA applauds the House of Representatives on the recent passage of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (H.R. 4) and urges the Senate to follow suit as soon as possible. As an historic civil rights organization, JCPA has actively supported voting rights and worked to maximize voter enfranchisement since its founding in 1944.\u00a0Click here to read the full statement.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n
