Amy Spitalnick, CEO of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs<\/span><\/i><\/a>, shared the following statement in response to the <\/span><\/i>U.S. Department of Justice\u2019s termination of grants to programs that aim to prevent hate crimes<\/span><\/i><\/a> against Jews and other vulnerable minorities:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cIf this administration were truly serious about countering antisemitism, it would not dismantle some of the most critical tools to do so \u2014 including this vital funding to prevent hate crimes in communities around the country.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sadly this is not the first time this administration has gutted the very programs necessary to countering antisemitism. In the last few months, it has decimated <\/span>the Department of Education\u2019s Office for Civil Rights<\/span><\/a>, which plays an essential role in investigating and addressing incidents of antisemitism in schools, and dramatically scaled back FBI and DHS programs aimed at countering violent extremism, among other disturbing actions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While this administration keeps telling us that fighting antisemitism is a top priority, actions like these send a very different message \u2013 undermining the rights and safety of Jews and all communities across the country.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
