The Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA) is disappointed that the Women’s Health Protection Act garnered only 46 votes, falling short of 60 required to clear the Senate. We applaud those Senators who joined together to support this critical legislation.

As states around the nation adopt restrictive anti-abortion laws and the Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, the Women’s Health Protection Act would have safeguarded access to reproductive care.

For years, JCPA has advocated with our partners for the Women’s Health Protection Act, which the House approved in 2021. JCPA is also a member of the newly created Jewish Abortion Access Coalition, where we are fighting to protect our rights and freedom. Despite this setback, JCPA will continue advocating for the values we have held for decades.
